Kathmandu. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called the government to find and punish the culprit responsible in the killing of principal Rajendra Kumar Shrestha of Saraswati Basic School at Miklajung Rural municipality of Morang on Tuesday.

In its statement issued on Wednesday, NHRC has also requested the government to provide an atonement amount to the victim’s family.

The banned Nepal Communist Party group led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has taken the responsibility of the killing. NHRC has mentioned that the Mechi-Koshi bureau of the Biplav group had claimed to have carried the heinous activity in retaliation, which is not acceptable by any means.

NHRC has urged the Biplav group not to resort to violence to quell others who have difference in opinion as the constitution has provided the right to the people..

This is the first killing by the group after Netra Bikram Chand went underground after his group was announced illegal by the government and banned its activities.
