Israel receives first batch of Pfizer vaccine

Kathmandu. Israel has received an initial shipment of Pfizer vaccine, that arrived in a DHL cargo plane from Belgium. The vaccines were brought applying required refrigerated storage procedures.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “I believe in this vaccine. I expect that it will get the requisite (regulatory) approvals in the coming days.” Israel is expected to vaccinate 60,000 citizens per day, starting from December 27.

Israel has a population of 9 million and has ordered 8 million doses of the vaccine from Pfizer. Israel further has ordered vaccines from Moderna Inc. and AstraZeneca Plc. A member of the Israeli cabinet has disclosed that the vaccine will first be distributed to the elderly and the vulnerable populations.

Israel reportedly has 348,968 coronavirus cases and 2,932 deaths.
