Timely action prevents serious fire at petrol pump in Gwarko

Kathmandu. A fire broke out at the Ujjwol Petrol Pump in Gwarko Lalitpur, at 6:15 pm on Monday evening. The fire started from a tanker that was there to deliver its consignment of petrol.

After the incident, traffic and vehicular movement at the Gwarko section of the Koteshwor-Satdobato route was stopped by Lalitpur Police.

The fire that started from the front portion of the petrol tanker (Na 6 Kha 974) caused a window pane each of two nearby houses to break, The front portion of the tanker itself, however, has been  completely destroyed.

Seven motorcycles and a scooter parked there at the time of the accident were partially damaged. The blaze was put under control with the help of water tankers and a fire truck of the Lalitpur Metropolis.

Immediate action prevented the petrol storage tank in the pump from catching fire and that saved from a serious damage, a fire fighter said.
