Trump threatens to veto against Defense Bill

Kathmandu. The annual defense bill of United States (US) that favors military budget for equipment and pay raise for service members, has been passed by the Senate on Friday. The wide-ranging defense bill was passed by a large margin from the House and Senate.
US President Trump has claimed to use his veto and use it against the bill. Where most of both the republican and democrat senators opine that the bill would counter threats from countries such as China, President Trump thinks it would largely benefit China. He tweeted, “The biggest winner of our new defense bill is China! I will veto!”
Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee said “President Trump clearly hasn’t read the bill, nor does he understand what’s in it. There are several bipartisan provisions in here that get tougher on China than the Trump Administration has ever been.”
Trump has threatened over Twitter that he will use his veto to rename military bases and force lawmakers to include provisions to take actions against media houses that were biased towards him during the elections; claims that are unrelated to the defense bill.
For nearly 60 years in a row, the Congress has been passing the bill, known as the National Defense Authorization Act. The new version affirms 3% wage increases for US soldiers and authorizes more than US$740 billion in military programs.
