Dozens arrested at a call centre in India over ‘drug cartel’ scam

Kathmandu. Indian Police have arrested 54 people in Delhi regarding a case of international call centre scam. The group of people was said to have running a scam in which 4,500 people from the United States and other countries from the world fell victims.
In an article in BBC, it is said that they used to tell the victims that their details have been found in crime scenes and drug cartels around Mexico and Columbia. The victims used to pay as the suspects claimed to be law enforcement officers, adding that they demanded bitcoins or gift cards to be transferred in e-wallets that were later cashed through in India.
The suspected manager of the scam is said to be running the business from Dubai. A total of US$ 14 million was taken from the victims.
Indian police say that they have broke into 25 fake call centres this year.
