Kathmandu, December 21: The agitation started by the sugarcane farmers in Maitighar Mandala a week ago is still continuing (Monday). The sugarcane farmers have continued their protest saying that the final decision will be made as per the developments and government’s decision.
The disgruntled farmers said they would pitch a tent at the protest site for a few days and stay there. They have planned not to return home until the sugar mills paid the arrears.
The government and sugarcane farmers had agreed in January last year to transfer the money to the farmer’s bank accounts. However, the sugarcane farmers say that they have declared agitation as the government has not implemented the decision yet.
