Bagmati Province Police campaigns against illegal drugs

Bagmati, December 23 : The Bagmati Province Police Office, Hetauda, has taken steps to discourage all illicit drug-related transactions in the province. The police have carried out various activities in different districts to destroy cannabis cultivation and control the smuggling of drugs.

According to Bagmati Province Police Chief DIG Basant Kumar Lama, steps have been taken for the destruction of the cannabis cultivation and smuggling control in different districts.Operations have been launched in Makwanpur, Chitwan, Sindhuli, Dhading, and other districts to control illegal cultivation and smuggling of cannabis.

According to Mira Chaudary, senior superintendent of police, Province Police Office, Hetauda, the cannabis cultivation in 371 bigha 56 kattha and 27 dhur  land has been destroyed on different dates so far.

Cannabis planted in 235 bigha five kattha and five dhur in Makwanpur , 50 bighas in Chitwan , 63 bighas 25 kattha and 10 dhur in Sindhuli,  21 bigha and eight kattha in Dhadling have been destroyed. Chaudhary said that 223 bigha cannabis cultivation was destroyed in the cannabis crackdown conducted in wards 8 and 9 of Raksirang Rural Municipality of Makwanpur from December 6 to 8.

A total of 96 kg of cannabis has been seized during the anti-drug operation in December. Similarly, 75 ampules of Diazepam, 72 ampules of Fenargan, 75 ampules of Nurfin, 1,200 tablets of Nitrovet, and 45 tablets of Nitrezepam drugs have been confiscated.

Twenty drug smugglers have been arrested in November and four fugitives are being searched. Senior Superintendent of Police Chaudhary said that six vehicles involved in drug trafficking have also been taken under control.

The police campaign still continues as  illegal plantation of cannabis and opium has not been eradicated in different districts of the province . RSS
