Birth rates throughout South Korea dropped dramatically

Seoul, December 23 : South Korea has reported a drop in birth rates. According to health officials, South Korea’s birth rate has dropped this year compared to last year.

Officials said the birth rate has dropped by at least 14 percent this year. A total of 21 thousand 934 children were born in October this year. According to the official, the number is 14.4 percent lesser than the previous year.

According to ‘Statistics Korea’, this birth rate is the lowest in South Korea since 1981. In South Korea, it is common for women to marry as they are older and this has led to the decreased birth rate.

The number of women getting married in October has also declined. Number of women marrying in October this year was less than 19 percent of those in the same month last year.
