Arnab Goswami’s show fined in UK
Kathmandu, December 24. Indian media personality Arnab Goswami’s channel Republic has been fined an amount of 20,000 pounds in the United Kingdom(UK).
The United Kingdom’s Office of Communications on Tuesday, 22 December, specified that an episode of Republic Bharat’s show ‘Poochta Hai Bharat’ aired an episode on 6 September 2019, which violated the UK’s broadcasting company’s conditions. They said that the channel had used “offensive language”, “hate speech” and “abusive or derogatory treatment of individuals, groups, religions or communities”, pointing its comments against people of Pakistan.
The broadcasting company has stated that the host and the programme intentionally contained derogatory comments towards the people of Pakistan, which was completely out of context.
