South African variant of coronavirus more dangerous than British one
Kathmandu, December 24. United Kingdom (UK) has decided to impose travel restrictions for incoming travelers from South Africa as two cases of a new virus strain have been found there.
UK Health Minister Matt Hancock said, “This new variant is highly concerning, because it is yet more transmissible, and it appears to have mutated further than the new variant that has been discovered in the UK.” He added that all those who had contracted the virus originating from South Africa have been kept in quarantine, including the contacts.
UK has announced stricter lockdown measures to contain the spread of the virus. More than 50 countries had recently announced travel restrictions from UK as a new strain of coronavirus had been detected there. With a new strain originating from South Africa, coronavirus poses more risk in the current times than ever.
