Prachanda-Nepal faction of NCP protest against dissolution of Parliament at Maitighar
Kathmandu, December 25 : After the dissolution of the parliament, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepa’s alliance –the Prachanda-Nepal faction – of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) staged street protest today.
Announcing a program of street demonstration against the dissolution of the parliament, Prachanda-Nepal faction on Friday staged a protest at Maitighar with “We are here” placards.
After the dissolution of the parliament, NCP has now divided into two groups. One group is led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the other by leaders Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal.
The Prachanda-Nepal faction of NCP has said that it will fight against the dissolution of the parliament from the streets to the courts. Members of the dissolved House of Representatives are also scheduled to attend the Supreme Court. A program has been decided upon to hold demonstration across the country.
After the split of the NCP, both parties have filed petitions in the Election Commission claiming authority over the name and election symbol of the party.
The Prachanda-Nepal faction has claimed that they have majority on their side, while the KP Sharma Oli faction has argued that they have the majority with chairman and general secretary on their side. However, the Election Commission is yet to settle the issue.
