PM Oli reorganizes Cabinet
The prime minister inducts nine new ministers, relieves two and reshuffles six portfolios in a massive Cabinet restructuring following the NCP split
Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reorganized the Cabinet adding nine ministers and changing portfolios of some. As some ministers had resigned a few days ago following the intraparty feud in Nepal Communist Party (NCP), new appointments and reshuffle in portfolios were made to fill the vacant positions and give complete form to the Cabinet.
The reorganization of the Cabinet on Friday got a mixture of new and old faces and also relieved Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwokarma and Minister of State for Industry Motilal Dugad from their responsibilities.
New ministers in the Cabinet
- Top Bahadur Rayamajhi — Minister for Irrigation, Energy and Water Resources
- Prabhu Saha — Minister for Urban Development
- Mani Thapa — Minister for Drinking Water
- Prem Ale — Minister for Forests and Environment
- Ganesh Singh Thagunna — Minister for General Administration and Federal Affairs
- Juli Kumari Mahato — Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens
- Gaurishankar Chaudhari — Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security
- Dawa Lama — Minister for Youth and Sports
- Bimala Bishwakarma — Minister of State for Industry
Ministers with reshuffled portfolios
- Hridayesh Tripathi — Minister for Health and Population
- Krishna Gopal Shrestha — Minister for Education, Science and Technology
- Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal — Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation
- Padhma Kumari Aryal — Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development
- Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe — Minister for Land Management
- Leelanath Shrestha — Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation
The newly-appointed ministers were administered oath of office and secrecy by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Shital Niwas on Friday evening.
On the occasion, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and others were present.
