Kathmandu.The process for the promotion to seven DIG positions in the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has commenced with the Human Resource Department at the APF headquarters issuing a notice to the effect.

The promotion committee formed under the coordination of Secretary of Home Affairs Maheshwar Neupane has asked all APF senior superintendents of police (SSPs) to submit copies of all documents necessary for promotion along with their educational degrees.

Incumbent DIGs Nagendra Thapa, Rajendra Basnet, Krishna Bhakta Brahmacharya, Hari Shankar Budhathoki, Harischandra Adhikari and Kabindraman Shrestha, who had shifted their service from the Nepali Army to the APF in 2001, are all retiring on Dec 12 at the completion of their service period. This has opened door for the  promotion of the APF SSPs. A dozen of them are vying for the seven DIG positions.

A maximum of 40 points for job performance evaluation, 20 points for seniority, 8 points for having worked in difficult geographical terrain, 7 points for educational qualification, 13 points for training, 5 points for undertaking special task or accepting challenging responsibility, 2 points for medals and decorations and 5 points from the promotion committee are allotted for the promotion.

Those eligible for the promotion according to seniority are Shambhu Subedi, Ganesh Bahadur Thada Magar, Durga Prasad Bhattarai and Kamal Giri.

SSP Thada Magar is the chief of Intelligence Department of APF at present. SSP Bhattarai is at APF Training Academy, Kathmandu and SSP Giri is stationed at the Baraha Brigade, Sunsari. All four were promoted to the positions of SSP the same day four years ago.

The name of SSP Abhi Kumar Chhetri, who has already been handed the responsibility as Acting DIG, is also in promotion list.

Kul Bahadur Nembang, Kalidas Dhaubaji, Kumar Neupane, Bidur Khadka, Bhesh Bahadur Shah, Pradip Kumar Pal, Lakshman Bahadur Singh and Krishna Raj Pathak are probable candidates for the promotion.
