Kathmandu, December 29. Researchers and archaeologists have unearthed a well preserved fast food bar in Pompeii, Italy. Pompeii is the second most visited site in Italy after Rome.
Archaeologists continuously worked to reveal the fast food bar which was frozen in volcanic ash. They have discovered a number of still life scenes in the most recent stage of their work, including depictions of animals believed to have been on the menu, particularly mallard ducks and a rooster, for serving with wine or hot drinks. They also have found duck bone fragments, including remains of pigs, goat and fish. Crushed fava beans, that are used to make changes in the taste of the wine was also found in the bottom of one jar.
The bar counter is also known as frescoed thermopolium. The words come from the Greek language, “thermos” for hot and “poleo” to sell – was very popular in the Roman world.
