Entrepreneurs make market expensive via artificial price hike: Minister Bhatta
Kathmandu, Jan 2 : Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta said that entrepreneurs have made the market dear by increasing costs artificially.
Speaking at the inaugural event of the 41st Annual General Assembly of the Federation of Lalitpur Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Friday, Minister Bhatta said that the private sector was left open but it was misused by entrepreneurs.
He said that the government has given various concessions and facilities to the industrialists and entrepreneurs, but some of them have affected the market adversely by raising the prices unnaturally.
Minister Bhatta has even warned to take action against the businessmen who increase the price. He said that the government would monitor and take action against the traders if there were complaints of artificial price rise in various commodities.
He urged the industrialists’ associations to control the price rise on their own as there are complaints of high prices of pulses, iron and cement. He said that if the price rise is not brought under control, the government will be forced to take the matter in its hands it and will not spare those who carry such malpractices.
