Broker’s license demanded for banks
Kathmandu, January 5. The Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions has asked for the banks to be granted broker license immediately. The Confederation today submitted a memorandum to Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel requesting that arrangements be made for the easy issuance of broker licenses to banks via the stock market in order to mobilize financial capital scattered throughout the country.
The confederation has proposed that the founding shares be converted into public shares and like every other business, the tax rate should be implemented to the financial sector. The delegation led by the President of the Federation and Chairman of the NMB Bank, Pawan Kumar Golyan, told the Finance Minister that they are ready to provide easy financial access for financial literacy, development and expansion of small and medium sized enterprises.
Similarly, it was emphasized that vocational training programs should be conducted for the development and expansion of youth and women entrepreneurship. According to the Confederation, Finance Minister Poudel has expressed commitment to implement them in a practical way.
Stating that the government will always move forward in collaboration with the Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal, Minister Poudel expected contribution from all sectors for the overall development of the nation. Vice President of the Federation Bhoj Bahadur Shah, General Secretary Keshav Bahadur Rayamajhi, Member and Chairman of Himalaya Bank Tulasi Prasad Gautam, Chairman of Nepal Bank Limited Basudev Adhikari and others were present on the occasion.
