Kathmandu, January 13. Border officials at the Netherlands border have confiscated sandwiches and other food items of drivers arriving from the UK.

A video clip is out which shows the border officials explaining that new rules have been applied post Brexit. One of the drivers requested the official to leave the bread but to take the meat with them. But the official replied, “No, everything will be confiscated – welcome to the Brexit, sir. I’m sorry.”

The UK government has recently announced guidelines for drivers entering into EU states, which does not allow the drivers to take POAO (products of an animal origin), such as meat and dairy into the EU.

Experts have predicted that post-Brexit food problems are more likely to arise as food exporters and their companies have already started to face problems.

The ‘rules of origin’ largely allows food products originating in the UK to be tariff-free, but food exporters have started to face the problems of the post-Brexit UK.
