Kathmandu. Nepali peacekeeping force has exhibited yet another exemplary act in Africa. In the last week of December, a company of Nepal peacekeeping force captured the city of Bambari in Central African Republic seized by rebels and helped the government regain control. This time, they have helped rehabilitate the conflict-stricken people of Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Engineering Company of Nepali peacekeeping force stationed at Congo has constructed large number of shelters for the war-torn citizens in a short span of time.

The Nepali Army’s Directorate of Public Relations and Information has informed  that the Nepali peacekeeping force has been able to construct shelters with different housing structures at the Muzipela region in Buniya for 20 thousand people displaced from the Dizugu region. Nepali Army peacekeeping company had taken over the building project in an area of seven hectares at the call of the International Migration Organization on June 1.

Head of the Department of Peace Operations of the UN, Force Commander of peacekeeping troops in Congo, governor of the region and the local people have lauded the role of Nepali peacekeeping force and its contributions.

The company is under the command of Lt Col Suresh Thapa at present.  The same Nepali peacekeeping company had build shelters for 10 thousand displaced people at UN’s request in 2019.
