Kathmandu to lit with modern street lights

The Municipal Corporation of Kathmandu under the “Ujyalo Kathmandu Program” is planning to add high luminance modern lights on the main roads of Kathmandu.

The program will be conducted in collaboration with the Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA). 

In the first phase, 1,750 modern lights will be installed in the main roads connecting Tribhuvan International Airport to Kalanki and Hyatt Regency, Tripureshwor to Maharajgunj and Baluwatar as well as the roads surrounding Singha durbar.

As per the formal agreement signed in November, NEA will invest 40 per cent of the total budget. The first phase is estimated to cost around NRs. 110 million.
