Government services to be available online soon, according to Minister Gurung

Kathmandu, January 15. A new application named ‘Citizen App’ has been launched today to provide online government services to the public. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung expressed confidence that the app would be important in fulfilling the government’s goal of creating a digital Nepal.

Minister Gurung further added, “Citizen App is an important effort to make the service of the general public simple, easy and fast, not online, but online.”

He further said that the government brought this app after a long study of three years, creating a program of national pride. It is said that the application needs further modifications based on the suggestions received from the citizens.

Stating that the government wants to make all services more transparent and less costly and hassle-free, Minister Gurung added, “The government is serious about providing government services to the citizens round the clock, even on holidays and working towards strengthening and organizing the services.”

Ministry Secretary Hari Prasad Basyal said that the app would prove to be a cornerstone in fulfilling the national goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ by bringing government services in the hands of people. He also informed that nine programs will be run through the app which has come as a trial.

The government has started the ‘Digital Nepal’ program with the objective of creating a digital society while providing public services to the people through citizen apps. The programs shall be conducted under the ‘Digital Nepal Framework Program’ with the slogan of good governance, prosperity and development.
