Cardinals urge PM Modi to invite Pope Francis

Kathmandu, January 20. During the interaction program with church heads on Tuesday, Prime Minister(PM) Narendra Modi interacted with cardinals of the Catholic Church on problems faced by the Christian community in India.

The PM interaction program conducted in Delhi was initiated by the Governor of Mizoram P.S. Sreedharan Pillai. 

The cardinals, George Alancherry, Baslios Cleemis and Oswald Gracias said that they have been asking for an invitation to Pope Francis for quite a few years and the PM have promised them to make a decision soon. 

The last visit by a Pope to India was held in 1999.
