Kathmandu, January 22. After the “Tandav controversy”, the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video is facing further criticisms regarding its blockbuster crime drama “Mirzapur”, made by Excel Entertainment.
Sujeet Kumar Singh, a resident of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, filed a legal request for a ban on web series “Mirzapur”. Singh has accused the online show for a violent and explicit portrayal of his small-town.
Singh also argued that he has no intention to hurt the artists, instead, he is trying to protect the historical and cultural identity of the district.
Addressing Singh’s FIR, the Supreme Court of India on Thursday issued notices to both Amazon Prime Video and Excel Entertainment seeking an explanation on the issue.
