A 5.7 magnitude earthquake hits Papua New Guinea

Kathmandu, January 23. Papua New Guinea has been hit by an earthquake on Saturday. The 5.7 magnitude earthquake had an epicentre in 36 kilometres Northwest of Finschhafen, a town at the tip of Huon Peninsula in Morobe Province.

According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences, the earthquake struck at a depth of about 10 kilometres. The exact time of the first wave was around noon on Saturday 23 January 2021 at 1:19 pm local time (03:19 GMT).
