Israel willing to support Nepal’s forestry

Kathmandu, January 25. Minister for Forests and Environment Prem Bahadur Ale and Israel’s ambassador to Nepal, Hanan Goder have held talks on the topic of assistance in the agriculture and forest development sector of Nepal.

During the meeting held at the Ministry today, the Forests and Environment Minister urged Israel to provide support for the significant forest development, establishing a herbal centre and to teach the Nepali farmers about Israeli forestry and agriculture technology.

“Israel has provided notable assistance to Nepal’s agriculture sector. I urge it to extend support in the forest development sector as well now,” he said. Noting that the two countries have been cooperating and collaborating since long in the agriculture and technology as well as in other sectors, Minister Ale said Nepal was interested in collaborating with Israel in the forestry development sector in the coming days.

He said Israel is a safe labour destination country for Nepali migrant workers and also expressed the confidence that it will assist Nepal in this sector also in the days to come. In the meeting, Israeli Ambassador Goder said Israel was keen to collaborate with Nepal in the development of forest as well as other sectors. “We have been providing assistance in the development of many sectors including agriculture and tourism in Nepal. We will now provide support in the forest development sector also,” Ambassador Goder said.

Secretary at the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Dr Bishwonath Oli, among other officials were also present in the meeting.
