Chiefs of various Constitutional Bodies sworn in
Kathmandu, February 3. The government has sworn in officials as heads of constitutional bodies of Nepal on Wednesday morning.
The chiefs of constitutional bodies took their oath from Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana whereas other members took their oath from chiefs of their respective bodies at a function held at Shital Niwas.
The new appointees were Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Prem Kumar Rai, the Chair of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tapa Bahadur Magar, the Chairperson of the National Women Commission (NWC), Kamala Kumari Parajuli, Chair of the National Dalit Commission, Dev Raj Bishwokarma and Chair of the Indigenous Nationalities Commission, Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar.
Similarly, Ram Prasad Bhandari and Dr Janaki Kumari Tuladhar was appointed as the new election commissioners among others.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Timilsina were present at the event.
The names of the nominees were sent on December 20 when the House of Representatives was dissolved. However, Speaker Agni Sapkota was absent from the event and stated that the nominations were against constitutional provisions and the orders of the Supreme Court.
