London quietly sends back three Beijing spies
Kathmandu. February 6. The United Kingdom secretly deported three spies who posed to be working as Chinese journalists.
Citing an unnamed domestic agency, UK Daily Telegraph on Thursday reported that the three men who claimed to “work for three different Chinese media agencies”, were identified as intel officers for China’s Ministry of State Security. The name of the individuals and the Chinese media outlets is yet to be revealed.
The UK’s new session of the parliament which is scheduled to begin in May has planned to take up new legislation on spying and the Official Secrets Act. The laws would shorten the threshold of illegality and would eventually reduce malign and foreign interference.
The bilateral relation between the UK and China has weakened over the past few years, as Beijing is being criticised for its crackdown in Hongkong.
