Kathmandu. February 9. On February 7 and 8, Nepali Army in collaboration with Armed Police Force conducted a two-day seminar entitled “Areas of coordination among the authorities working in border management and security in Nepal”.

The agenda of the seminar was to discuss the effects of disintegration on the nation, national unity and security, by linking it with the contributions made by the Late King Prithvi Narayan Shah.

The event organized under the banner of the National Security Council was chaired by the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Various ministers and high ranking officials also took part in the discussion.

Stressing on the importance of national unity, the Nepali Army put forward questions like; what will protect the sovereignty of the country? And, what are the threats to national security?

PM Oli spoke about the recent border disputes with India and the resolving efforts made by the government. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal expressed his commitments to improving the presence of border security forces.

The Chief of Army Staff General Purna Chandra Thapa outlined the need for the mobilization of the integrated border defence security mechanisms. The Inspector-General of Armed Police Force Shailendra Khanal stated the necessities for the modern technology-based equipment and resources in the border defence.

For the past few months, Nepal’s politics has been facing a severe risk of disintegration. In order to convey a symbolic message of national unity, marking the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti on January 12, a team of Nepali Army marched from Gorkha Durbar to Kathmandu on foot.

Last week, the Army also conducted a night patrol by armored vehicles that encircled the Ringroad of Kathmandu.
