Kathmandu, February 17. Leading House Democrat Bennie Thompson on Tuesday filed a lawsuit in the Federal court against the former US President Donald Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani.

According to the 32-page lawsuit, the defendants had key involvement in the conspiracy of capital attack on January 6, that was a part of the planned campaign, specifically designed and executed “to interfere with the legal processes of the elections”.

Thompson also accused Trump and his allies for violating the Post civil war law, 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act by trying to prevent Congress from certifying the results of the presidential election in the electoral college count. It also demanded unspecified punitive and compensatory damages.

The lawsuit also sued two extremist organizations, the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers for their role in the conspiracy.

Bennie Thompson is a politician serving as the Democratic chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. Tuesday’s federal suit filed in his personal capacity is believed to be the first civil action lawsuit against the former president regarding the Capital riot.

Earlier in January, Election equipment manufacturer Dominion Voting Systems filed a 1.3 billion lawsuit against Giuliani for his attempt to assassinate the character of Dominion. It also accused Giuliani for “cashed in role” in supporting “Trump’s lie about the stolen election”.
