We are sending 11,000 anti-Ebola vaccines to Guinea, says WHO

Kathmandu, February 19. The World Health Organization(WHO) on Thursday announced that it is preparing to send more than 11,000 Ebola vaccines to Guinea by Sunday.
WHO regional director for Africa Dr Matshidiso Moeti confirmed that 11,000 quills are being prepared in Geneva. “An additional 8,600 vaccines will be shipped from the United States,” said Moeti.
The vaccination drive is scheduled to begin on Monday from the southern NZerekore region of Guinea. Thirty vaccination experts are being deployed for the campaign.
On Tuesday, WHO urged six African countries to stay on alert for a potential outbreak of Ebola virus.
Ebola had first appeared in 2013 in Guinea. Between 2013 to 2016, it took the lives of at least 11,500 people in West African countries. After 4 years, Guinea on Sunday declared a “epidemic situation” when 3 people died due to the viral infection. 7 people in Guinea have been diagnosed with the latest species of virus. Out of which, 5 people are confirmed dead and 2 others are in isolation.
On February 7, the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC) declared the 13th outbreak of Ebola. At least four latest cases of Ebola have been confirmed in DRC this month, out of which, 2 are confirmed dead.
