French nuclear tests causing CANCERS in Polynesia
Kathmandu, March 10. A recent investigation into nuclear testing on the Pacific islands has revealed that French authorities intentionally concealed the effect of radioactive radiation on the health of Polynesians for more than 50 years.
Researchers from Princeton University’s Science and Global Security program in collaboration with investigative journalism portal Disclose and British firm Interprt, released the files from the 1971 Moruroa Atoll French nuclear test.
According to the two-year-long investigation report, 193 nuclear tests were conducted at Moruroa and Fangataufa atolls by French authorities from 1966 to 1996. Due to these tests, more than 1,10,000 Polynesian people were infected with high levels of hazardous radioactive frequencies.
Out of 193 tests, 46 were open-air explosions conducted before 1974. The report claimed that the french military did not take any preventive measures while conducting the tests, such as evacuating the people living around the testing sites.
The infections from the ionizing radiation waves are likely to cause cancers of the breast, thyroid, blood, lung and stomach among the families of those who were infected during the open-air explosions.
The report also said that the CIVEN commission installed by the French government in 2010 financially compensated only 454 victims of the radiation. The claims of the rest 80% of the inhabitant victims were rejected.
