Kathmandu, March 12. Sweden’s V-Dem Institute has described India as an ‘electoral autocracy’ , is as autocratic as Pakistan and is worse than Bangladesh and Nepal.

Indian Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also agreed and said that India is no longer a democracy on his Twitter handle.

The report, which is entitled ‘Autocratization Turns Viral’  has 25 countries which have turned autocratic. The list includes Brazil, Turkey and United States (US) along with India.

Many other leaders from the Indian Congress said that India is loosing its image in the international arena as a democratic country. Senior leader Shashi Tharoor said that the main findings of the report are damaging and added that elections have become a way of misusing laws and exercising autocracy.

Many other leaders also have criticized Rahul for his statement and that he could have given his opinion in a different manner.
