Facebook strikes deals with leading Australian companies

Kathmandu, March 16. Leading social media company Facebook has struck deals with Australia’s two largest media companies, News Corp and Nine Entertainment Co. to pay for their news.
News Corp has signed a three year deal whereas Nine Entertainment has also signed a deal where they will have a dedicated section called Facebook News.
Facebook had earlier blocked all organizations from operating in its Australian platform, due to some disagreements over new media laws. However, the ban was revoked following some amendments.
News Corp Chief Executive Robert Thomson has said that this is a landmark deal in the field of journalism. The company holds similar deals for Google and Apple.
