Delhi and 21 other cities of India amongst the most polluted cities in the world

Kathmandu, March 17. A report named ‘World Air Quality Report, 2020’ prepared by Swiss organisation, IQAir has revealed that 22 cities of India are amongst the most polluted cities round the world.
In the list of 30 cities, Delhi was the 10th most polluted city and topped the list of the most polluted capital in the world. Besides Delhi, the other cities in the list were Ghaziabad, Bulandshahar, Bisrakh Jalalpur, Noida, Greater Noida, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Agra and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, Bhiwari in Rajasthan, Faridabad, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, Bandhwari, Gurugram, Yamuna Nagar, Rohtak and Dharuhera in Haryana, and Muzaffarpur in Bihar.
The major causes of air pollution in India include transportation, biomass burning for cooking, electricity generation, industry, construction, waste burning and episodic agricultural burning.
The report is based from PM 2.5 data based from different government agencies from 106 countries around the world. Xinjiang in China topped the list of the most polluted city in the world.
