Bulgaria charge six people of spying for Russia
Kathmandu, March 25. Bulgarian prosecutors have charged six people who had been spying for Russia. It is said that such a spy ring has been uncovered in Bulgaria since World War II.
All six suspects are Bulgarians. Five of them were arrested in an operation while one of them tried to escape.
It is said that a former senior from the Bulgarian military intelligence had recruited people with access to classified information from Bulgaria, NATO and the European Union. The official used to pass the information to the Russian embassy in Sofia through his wife.
Officials have said that such crucial and sensitive being passed over has posed as a serious threat to their national security.
The US State Department has said that they are also looking into the case closely.
