Kathmandu, April 11. Oxford-AstraZeneca has issued a legal notice to India’s largest manufacturer of covid vaccine- the Serum Institute of India (SII).

The Indian company is under pressure as the company had been entrusted to provide cheap vaccines for developing and underdeveloped countries by Oxford AstraZeneca.

CEO of SII, Adar Poonawalla has said that they are prioritizing Indian supplies as coronavirus cases in India are surging. He also said that the Indian government is aware about the legal notice.

The Indian government put a temporary hold on all exports of SII, affecting exports to over 190 countries.

CEO Poonawalla said that SII is currently producing over 60 million doses every month and is aiming to scale it up to 100 million. The company has so far delivered around 100 million doses to the Indian government and exported 60 million to other countries, including 5 million to the UK.
