Leak in oxygen tank kills 22 covid patients in India
Kathmandu, April 22. A leak in an oxygen tank at a hospital in Nasik district in Maharastra has killed 22 covid patients.
The disruption in oxygen supply lasted over half an hour. Out of the 22 deceased, 11 were on ventilator support and 11 were on oxygen.
Television visuals of the incident show white fumes in the hospital, causing panic. The leak, that occurred at Zakir Hussain Hospital, was managed to put off by the fire brigade in 15 minutes.
Police has said that the leak was caused in a pipe connecting the oxygen supply to the main tank in the hospital complex.
Five patients were shifted to another hospital.
Maharashtra accounts for more than a quarter of daily infections in India. India has been witnessing a brutal second wave of coronavirus with increased number of cases everyday.
