Innocence jaded (Poetry)

Little girl, what do you want?
in a world so troubled
that you know not of the beyond
Those hopeful eyes so silently scream,
what went wrong?
where can my hopes be seen?

Little girl, did your imagination skip your lands?
to dream of a better place
to simply cast away a bitter glance
Of a family that cracked ‘neath
those bloodshot hopeful eyes
your hands search for comfort in dimming lights?

Little girl, now do you see?
now that you are not so little anymore
you have come so far from your dream,
Lost in the demons of your world
rationality treads on your sweet soul
and you still lack all control.

You have grown big in the shades of grey,
with crowds barking in disarray.
under clouds that hide the bright rays.
Did your dreams finally meet? –
the reality of the storm
like a broken fleet.
