Physicists discover cosmic energies that could completely change humanity’s perception of the universe
Kathmandu, May 18. A group of Chinese physicists has discovered a number of ultra-high-energy (UHE) cosmic accelerators in the milky way galaxy. The origin of cosmic rays had been an issue of confusion for scientists around the globe. The discovery of accelerators could completely change humans’ understanding of the galaxy.
In the study published in the Nature Journal, the authors have described that the discovered photons had more than 1 peta-electron volt of energies which is 100 times more than that of super accelerators built by man.
The 11-month long research was conducted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences – Institute of High Energy Physics in collaboration with Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). LHAASO is one of China’s most advanced science and technological facilities.
The chief scientist at LHAASO, Cao Zhen said, “These observations will prompt us to rethink the mechanism by which high-energy particles are generated and propagated in the Milky Way.”
