A Chinese man is building a life-size replica of the “Titanic”
Visitors can experience a night of maiden voyage at just 150 dollars.
Kathmandu, May 24. China is building a full-size replica of the RMS Titanic in a museum 1,200 from the sea.
The 145 million dollar project is fueled by Su Shaojun, a Chinese investor who considers himself as the biggest fan of the so-called “unsinkable” British passenger liner.
Investor Shaojon opines that the replica would keep memories of the Titanic alive. “We are building a museum for the Titanic,” he added.
The massive replica will be the star attraction in the Romandisea theme park located in China’s Sichuan province. The authorities are preparing to open the museum for the public, where the fans of the Titanic can spend one night at the ship paying just 150 dollars.
Although it is being built in the landlocked country, the ship will be docked in a river, so that the guest will feel that they are at sea. Moreover, the replica will have functioning steam engines to make the experience realistic.
The project started in 2016 and was scheduled to complete in 2019. But, the construction is still ongoing. Experts have calculated that the museum will welcome at least 230 million visitors in the first year of operation.
RMS Titanic
RMS Titanic was the largest commercial ship of the early nineteenth century, which could carry more than 3,300 passengers.
The luxury steamship set sail on its first maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York on April 10, 1912.
In the wee hours of April 15, the ship struck an iceberg. Within 3 hours, the ship sank in the North Atlantic, killing more than 1,500 people. The tragic incident is one of the most famous maritime disasters of all time.
