Nepal witnesses impacts of YAAS Cyclonic Storm (Watch Live)
Kathmandu, May 25. On Tuesday, Nepal’s Meteorological Forecasting Division announced that most parts of the country are having cloudy and rainy weather.
The sudden change in weather is an impact of the YAAS cyclonic storm that is forming over the Bay of Bengal. The division warns that the weather shall deteriorate even more on Wednesday.
Cyclone Yaas in India
Media reports suggest that the officials of India’s Meteorological Department have predicted that the cyclone will grow into a “very severe category storm” during the next 12 hours.
By today evening, Cyclone Yaas is likely to make landfall on the northern borders of Odisha with wind speeds up to 185 kph. This is even more dangerous than last week’s cyclone “Tauktae” that didn’t cross the limit of 160kmph. But, Yaas is considered less severe than Cyclone Amphan which passed through Bengal last year, killing at least 80 people.
The government of India has alerted the Indian states of Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jharkhand.
