Kathmandu, May 25. On Monday, Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved announced the demise of its Dairy division vice-president Sunil Bansal.

57-year-old Bansal died on May 19 in Rajasthan Hospital, after sustaining “severe lung damage and brain hemorrhage” caused by Covid-19. Media reports suggest that Patanjali had no role in his allopathy treatment that was fully coordinated by his wife.

Bansal was a renowned dairy specialist who had previously worked with Amul and Mother dairy. He joined Patanjali Ayurved in 2018 when the company decided to introduce its packaged dairy products into the international market.

Bansal’s death occurred shortly after Yoga guru Ramdev made his controversial remarks against allopathy medicines.

Controversy

In a video that went viral last week, Ramdev was heard saying that allopathy is a stupid science and drugs such as Remdesivir have failed to cure the infection.

He also said, “We have lost lakhs of people due to allopathic medicines … rather than the shortage of oxygen. More than 10,000 doctors have died despite getting two doses of coronavirus vaccine.”

On Sunday, India’s Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan wrote a letter to Ramdev, expressing that Yoga Guru’s statement was extremely demotivating to the health workers who are relentlessly working during the dire situation.

Later that day, Ramdev withdrew his controversial statements saying that he was not criticizing frontline workers. ”It was not my statement, I was reading a WhatsApp message.” he said.
