Mumbai student designs PPE kit that pumps air for ventilation
The PPE kit pumps air every 100 seconds for ventilation, that comes as a huge relief for covid warriors
Kathmandu, May 26. Many frontline workers have to work for hours in the PPE kit, which has no ventilation and poses difficulty for frontliners. The summer season have also made it more difficult for them.
Nihaal Singh Adarsh, a second-year student of KJ Somaiya College of Engineering has developed a PPE kit that pumps air every 100 seconds, so that air is passed and ventilation takes place. He has named it “Cov-Tech Ventilation System.”
The system runs on a lithium-ion battery and it runs for 6 to 8 hours.

He said that he developed such a design for her mother, who is a doctor and has been treating covid patients at her clinic. While initially he did not think of going commercial, owing to the difficulties faced by the frontline workers, he changed his decision.
The first batch of 30-40 units is already given out to doctors and NGOs across India, whereas the next 100 units are under production.
