Kathmandu, May 30. On Saturday morning, a passenger ship, “KM Karya Indah” caught fire in the Molucca Sea near North Maluku, Indonesia. 181 passengers and 14 crew members on board were forced to jump into the sea.

Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency, Ahmad Sangadji told Xinhua that the ship, which departed from Ternate city, was reaching its destination of Sanana seaport in a remote Sula island.

“The fire triggered panic among the passengers … but, all of them were saved and they have been sent to the nearby Sanana island,” Sangadji noted.

Media reports suggest that the fire sparked from the engine room.
