Taplejung’s Merigden municipality to offer annual scholarships for “Hydro Engineering” Study
Kathmandu, June 24. Merigden rural municipality of Taplejung district has adopted a new policy to offer annual scholarships for two students who prefer to study “hydropower engineering”. From the upcoming economic year, each year, a girl and a boy student will be selected for the scholarship program.
On Wednesday, the municipal office also laid a special educational incentive programme to induce growth in school enrollment rate. The authority has decided to financially help 16 students to get into schooling, which would enhance the enrollment rate by seven percent.
With the goal of protecting indigenous identity, the local government has decided to promote the teaching-learning of indidenous language and culture.
For the upcoming economic year, the rural municipality has an annual budget of Rs. 411.65 million (41.165 crores)
