August 14 to be observed as ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ in India

Kathmandu, Aug 14. Indian prime minister Narendra Modi has said that August 14 will be marked as “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day”. He said that the day will be remembered for the sacrifices and the struggles of the people.

He tweeted through his Twitter handle and wrote, “Partition’s pains can never be forgotten. Millions of our sisters and brothers were displaced and many lost their lives due to mindless hate and violence. In memory of the struggles and sacrifices of our people, 14th August will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.”

He also added that the day will remind the need of social harmony, social oneness and human empowerment by removing disharmony and divisions.

India celebrates its independence day on August 15 every year.
