Asians are the fastest growing racial group in US: Report

Kathmandu, Aug 15. The number of Asian Americans in the US grew to 24 million in 2020, according to census reports released by the US.

According to the data released by the US census bureau, the minority countries’ population has over shadowed the American population for the first time since 1776.

Around 20 million people identified themselves as Asian and another 4 million identified themselves as Asian along with another race group. A total of 0.5% people identified themselves as “Native Hawaiian” and “Other Pacific Islander”. The results make Asians as the fastest growing population in the US, with a percentage of 35.5%.

The director of the race, ethnicity and outreach in the US census bureau’s population division has said that US has become more multiracial and ethnically diverse than in the past.

Although the growth rate in the US is slowest over the last decade, the Americans managed to get a growth rate of 7.4%.
