Investment Board approves 73 billion for hydropower projects

Kathmandu, October 9. The 48th meeting of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN) has decided to allocate 73 billion of the state’s investment to two hydropower projects.
On Monday, the board confirmed 62.26 billion Nepali rupees for the 900-megawatt Arun III hydropower project which is being built in the Sankhuwasabha district. Similarly, the 56-megawatt Jumkhola hydropower project in Dolakha district will also receive 10.5 billion for infrastructure development.
The key chair of the meeting, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also ordered the board to coordinate with concerned ministries and immediately set up a special committee to study the progress of the “900-megawatt Upper Karnali hydropower project.” The report shall be submitted within 45 days from today.
