Kathmandu, October 27. Floods and landslides have blocked roads in far western Nepal, causing a shortage of essential medicines in the villages of Doti, Achham, and Bajura.

The District hospital of Doti has announced that it is severely running out of drugs. “If the supplies do not arrive within two days, the situation would worsen,” Dr. Prakash Thakulla said.

Soo-Jung Hospital in Rajpur has also warned that it has drug supplies sufficient for two days and that anything beyond that could result in serious harm to local lives.

Health professionals have urged the government to provide an immediate supply of drugs, primarily those used to treat newly emerged “water-borne diseases” as well as existing “chronic diseases.”
