Direct flights between Colombo and Paris resume after a six-year break
Kathmandu, November 1. The government of Sri Lanka on Monday resumed direct airline connections with France.
Direct flight services between Paris and Colombo were first introduced in the 1980’s. However, Colombo chose to end the flights in 2015. There have been no direct flights between Colombo and Paris for the previous six years.
Now that the pandemic has passed, Sri Lanka’s tourism economy is reviving. In September alone, Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport welcomed more than 13,000 international tourists, a significant rise over past months.
Therefore in order to further boost the tourism industry, the Airport and Aviation Services recently allowed new flights for five airliners, including Air France.
According to the official announcement, Sri Lankan Airlines would operate regular flights between Sri Lanka and France on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Similarly, Air France will operate three weekly flights to Sri Lanka.
