Omicron variant found in India; Two patients in Karnataka

Kathmandu, December 2. On Thursday, the government of India announced that the new “Omicron” variant of COVID-19 has been detected in the Indian state of Karnataka.
Labh Agarwal, a high-level officer of the Indian health ministry told reporters, “Up to this point, two Omicron variant cases have been reported in the country. Both cases are from the state of Karnataka.”
Agrawal also said that a team of experts has already traced the contacts of the two patients. The contacts have also been ordered to stay in quarantine.
